Advanced Keyword search

Examples:

Connectors

"And" is automatically inserted between each of the words you type. The search will find records containing all the words--in any order.

Use "or" to find records that contain any or all of your words.

Use parentheses to group words when using multiple connectors.

Use "and not" to exclude words

national health insurance
is the same as
national and health and insurance

Adjacency

To search for multiple words as one phrase, enclose them in quotation marks.

Truncation

Use an asterisk * to truncate from 1 - 5 characters.

Use a double asterisk ** for open-ended truncation.

politic*
This will find words that begin with environment plus up to 5 additional letters, e.g., politics, political, politician, etc.

Proximity

Use "near" to specify words within 10 words of each other, in any order.

Use "within #" to specify terms which occur within so many words of each other in the record.

Common Words

Common words, such as OF and THE, must be included in a phrase search.

Phrases in your search that include boolean operators, (AND, OR, AND NOT, for example), must be enclosed in quotation marks.

Field limits

Specify fields to search using the Field pulldown menu (as indicated in brackets).
